Value added is the extra value created over and above the original value of something. It can apply to products, services, companies, management, and other areas of business. In other words, it is an enhancement made by a company/individual to a product or service before offering it for sale to the end customer.
Value addition in agriculture produce has increased the opportunities for employment, financial stability and opportunities for small farmers, individuals and enterprises.
Twenty-five members of Karur Navathaniyangal Farmer Producer Organsation underwent training on value addition to agricultural produces. The training was organized at KVK on the 24th of November 2023.
The trainer from KVK imparted training on preparing mixture of aval mixture (parched rice mixture), ragi laddu (sweet made of finger millet), kambu pongal (sweet rice made of pearl millet) and millet noodles.
The participants felt the training was useful and informative and a few of them, who are already involved in petty trades, have determined to prepare items demonstrated in the training for improving their business. Actually, they are exploring newer ideas and hence, they want to undergo similar trainings organized by KVK in the coming months for exploring more appropriate business venture on value addition.
